Unlikely People

God, you invite unlikely people.

You invited Mary – a poor, young, unmarried girl in a rural town – to bring Jesus into the world.

You invited Joseph – a poor, young, unmarried man in a rural town – to raise Jesus as his own son.

You invited Elizabeth – an older, first-time mom – to walk with Mary during a time of unknown.

You invited the shepherds – dirty and tired with their sheep in the fields – to encourage Mary and Joseph by confirming Jesus was the Messiah they had been waiting for.

God, you invite unlikely people in the story of Jesus.

We too are unlikely people.

You invite us – with all our barriers – to bring forth the joyous news of Jesus.

You invite us to share God’s love.

God, you invite unlikely people.
