LEADing in Crisis is an initiative of LEAD, a non-profit Christian Leadership Organization that nurtures leaders with a deep, bold, consequential faith. LEAD provides resources, consulting, and coaching focused on nurturing spiritual practices and leadership that transform faith communities and influence the world.
In order for you to LEAD well, you have to BE well.
LEADing in Crisis is a community focused on nurturing the SPIRITUAL, EMOTIONAL, MENTAL, and PHYSICAL health of those who lead faith
communities.
Engaging the expertise of facilitators in the public health, mental health, leadership, and faith fields, LEADing in Crisis will provide resources, support,
and information aimed at nurturing the holistic health of leaders leading in times of crisis.
FACILITATORS
ULYSSES BURLEY III, MPH
Founder, UBtheCure, LLC
Ulysses W. Burley III is founder of UBtheCURE LLC, a proprietary consulting company on the intersection of Faith, Health, and Human Rights —where “We treat people and not just disease.” Ulysses formerly served as a member of the United States Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA) appointed by the Obama Administration, and the Executive Committee of the World Council of Churches (WCC). A native of Houston, Texas, Ulysses studied biology and Spanish at Morehouse College, and medicine and public health at Northwestern University FSM — including a one year fellowship in HIV/AIDS training at the Fundación Huésped in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He went on to train in the Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Clinical Research Unit at Northwestern Memorial. In 2016 Ulysses was recognized by the National Minority Quality Forum (NMQF) as a top 40 under 40 Minority Health Leader for his work in faith and HIV in communities of color and was a recipient of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) Public Service Award for 2018.
REV. DAVID HANSEN
Pastor, Spirit of Joy! Lutheran Church
Growing up, David got a front row seat to learn about leadership, watching how the ministry and leadership of both his father and grandfather positively shaped many communities of faith. He serves as Pastor of Spirit of Joy! Lutheran Church in The Woodlands, TX (outside of Houston), where he lives with his wife Megan, their daughter, and their herd of cats. Spirit of Joy! is an energetic congregation, inviting people to deeper faith and meaningful community. David felt the call to ordained ministry early in his life. After studying theology at Roanoke College, he received his Master of Divinity degree from the School of Theology at the University of the South (Sewanee). When not preaching and teaching for the Lutheran diaspora in Texas, David is helping to invite the church into the digital age – teaching congregations and leaders to make use of online tools for ministry. For the last ten years he has helped congregations and church leaders use new tools to share the old story of Jesus and to build community.

Helping Healers Heal – That’s My Lane! I am Reverend Brady Radford, but my friends call me “Brotherbrady.” As a Pastor in the Presbyterian Church and the owner/operator of The Lovewell Counseling Collective, I help individuals and organizations build healthy relationships and strategize for positive outcomes. I especially love working with couples of all kinds, organizations in conflict and public speaking. In my work, I use personal stories, leadership and relationship examples to transform complex theology and psychology concepts into common sense wisdom. The delight of my life centers on the love I share with my partner and wife, Celestine and our three adventurous children, Aniyah, Brayden and Kalia.
JENNY SHARRICK, MPH
Director of Public Health Services Family Inc.
Jenny Sharrick is the Director of Public Health Services at FAMILY, Inc. She oversees the Title V (Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health, including Oral Health) and 1st Five Health Mental Development programs for two counties in Iowa. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biopsychology and Religion from Hastings College and a Master of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health from University of Nebraska Medical Center. Ms. Sharrick has been involved in both sexual & reproductive health and justice work and anti-hunger & poverty work for nearly 15 years. Jenny volunteers with Nebraska AIDS Project, SERTOMA and as the chair of the ELCA World Hunger Network in Nebraska. In her spare time she enjoys baking, dancing, going to the zoo with her husband, looking for awesome fanny packs, and cuddling her squished-face puppies, Mr. Pickles and Lady Zucchini.
ROZELLA HAYDÉE WHITE, MAR
Owner, RHW Consulting Coach & Consultant
Rozella Haydée White is a public theologian, spiritual life coach, leadership consultant, inspirational speaker and writer focused on nurturing life-giving and justice-seeking love in this world. She engages issues of faith, justice, self awareness and love, mental illness, and the radical and transformative love of God as embodied in the person of Jesus. Rozella obtained her Master of Arts in Religion from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (now United Lutheran Seminary) and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and African Studies from Texas Southern University in Houston, TX. Rozella received her Certification in Youth Ministry from the Center for Youth Ministry at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, IA. She completed three units of chaplaincy training with Emory Center for Pastoral Services in Atlanta, GA, and is a certified disaster chaplain with the National Disaster Interfaith Network.
